HAVE A NICE FLIGHT – Air travel in comfort [10 TIPS]

Flying on economy class seats can be tedious, especially on smaller aircraft, where legroom and seat width are really small. The very prospect of sitting for a few hours does not sound encouraging, but there are a few things you can do to feel more comfortable.

Here are some practical tips to make your flight more enjoyable:

1. Do not wear a casual outfit

Layered clothing is the key to comfortable flying. You never know when it will be hot or cold on an airplane, so wear clothing that is easy to take off. Soft, breathable clothes like sweatshirts and cotton shirts will help you feel more relaxed and comfortable. Avoid wool, tight clothing or scratchy tags. There is nothing worse than itching when you get stuck in a small space.

2. Wear appropriate footwear

For a long flight by plane, give up high heels or uncomfortable extravagant footwear. Of course, everyone wants to look attractive, but it will be wiser to put on shoes that you can easily put on or take off. You may be asked to take off your shoes while checking at the airport. On the plane, you can take off your shoes, your feet may swell during your flight, so it’s worth taking a second pair of socks and putting them on or slippers so your feet can breathe and recover faster.

3. Don’t forget about earplugs

Crying children or loud conversations of other passengers combined with a growing feeling of tiredness in you can make you irritable or anxious. Earplugs take up very little space and can solve this problem. Thanks to the newly discovered silence, the nap can finally become reality – you will renew your strength and time will flow faster.

4. The important role of a small snack

A small, healthy snack will make you feel better during the flight. A good solution will be a small packaging of fruit or vegetables, fruit mousse or vegetable puree. Try to avoid fatty foods, it will make you feel drowsy, it may cause stomach pain. Also, give up spicy foods and foods that have an intense aroma, as it can be uncomfortable for your neighbors and reduce the comfort of travel.

5. Come to the airport early enough

Traveling by plane can be stressful, so keep stressors to a minimum. You can save yourself a lot of stress by arriving early at the airport. Check flight information on the Flyradar and departure time. You can use the online check-in option, so you won’t have to wait in line, and you’ll be able to choose your seat in advance.

6. Choose the right seat

Everyone has their own preferences for seating, but that does not mean that all places are equal. If you are taller, it will be more practical if you choose a place from the inside – you will be able to stretch your legs in the passage. If you like to sleep during a flight, you better decide to sit by the window – fewer factors will distract you. However, all passengers should try to sit closer to the front of the plane – the back of the passengers are plagued by engine noise and the smell of the bathroom.

7. Take care of proper hydration

Do not reach for coffee or soda, and opt for water. Caffeine and sugar have a weakening effect on the body, leaving you more tired and dry than before. In addition, the cabin air is extremely dry: Humidity levels are usually around 10 to 20 percent, compared to a typical room between 30 and 65 percent. It dries your eyes and skin, causing itching and discomfort. Don’t be shy to ask the flight attendant for more water!

8. Empty your pockets

Trying to sit down in your seat, the last thing you need are things poking you sideways. Unload the contents of the pocket into the seat pocket in front of you to ensure a smoother ride. If you are worried that you will forget about your belongings, take a small bag with you.

9. Listen to relaxing music.

Before boarding, select a song list and upload it to your smartphone or mp3 player. Calm music or help you relax and feel at home during your flight. For shorter flights, it can be fun to create a playlist with lively, joyful music to put you in a holiday mood – some like to choose music directly related to the city they visit.

10. Use a pillow and blanket.

Most airlines will provide you with a pillow and blanket for longer flights, so you might as well use them! But it’s smart to take a neck pillow or sweatshirt that you can roll up and rest your head in case the pillow is not available.
